The Istranova restaurant, which the Formitas team has helped open, will be a haven of good food and drink, peace, inspiration and opportunities for mental or physical workout. Istranova will also provide a place for the exchange of ideas and a stage open to all styles and genres.

Because we like to raise our voices (or fists) against the blunders of this world and since an empty stage (before we open) is a waste, we organised a traditional celebration of 1 May, confirming that power still resides with the people and that revolutionary songs still have a place in our hearts.

The actual 1 May starts a day earlier: cooking goulash, writing the speech, buying carnations, printing songbooks, and building a bonfire. We woke up late, checked the stash of homemade spirits (pear, jujube, plum, grappa, walnut), the supply of goulash, the weather report, and… attached a carnation to everyone’s lapel, commanded them to be in a good mood and fed the team goulash and polenta.

On the same day we ate it all, heard the speech and applauded, lit the bonfire and saw the onset of 2 May dancing and singing. Sleeping in cars and crashing to cool Istrian ground was in the spirit of solidarity with the working people. Long live 1 May!

We all know that you never forget your first! Istranova is open from 13 June!
